Located in the best triangle the capital can offer (shopping, theatre and cinema area), you will find Hotel Santo Domingo. From this point of the capital, you can see the most emblematic places and monuments of the Madrid of the Austrias: The Royal Palace, La Almudena, the Campo del Moro park, Opera, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, the Prado Museum, the Retiro Park.
Many things make the hotel Santo Domingo special, one of them, especially in the hottest months, is its rooftop pool, perfect for a refreshing bath surrounded by incredible views. However, this hotel is not known only for its views and its pool, in 2011 it achieved the Guinness record of the largest vertical garden in the world, favouring the absorption of CO2, and providing insulation.
This vertical wall is inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient World), which means that all the interior rooms of the hotel can enjoy green views.
Located on the top floor of the hotel, you can find its terrace, Sunset Lookers, which offers 360º views of the city. Not only that, but you can also enjoy a variety of drinks and cocktails from the best brands. Every day, starting at 20:00h and in the summer, it opens its doors for all those who want to enjoy the views.
In the pool season, the low glass roof transforms the terrace into a quiet environment and a nocturnal atmosphere, where you can enjoy a drink and the sunset.
Until spring begins, Sunset Lookers will remain closed to the public. Only the residents of the hotel, making a reservation, can enjoy this terrace outside the summer period.
Going downstairs from the terrace by the vertical wall, you will reach the Sandó Caves, located underground. A perfect environment for cocktails, gin-tonics and trendy music, in a relaxed, intimate and avant-garde atmosphere while enjoying the most select cuisine at a medium price.
